\u00a0Adat “Ching Pret” adalah antara acara utama dalam Pesta Hari Sart Duean Sip yang diadakan meriah di Wat Kuhaphimuk (Wat Na Tham), Yala. Ia adalah satu warna budaya masyarakat Buddha Thai di selatan, sebagai cara untuk tunjuk penghargaan dan kasih kepada arwah nenek moyang.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Suasana majlis penuh meriah, terutama waktu acara \u201cChing Pret\u201d yang dinanti oleh kanak-kanak dan orang dewasa. Bila selesai upacara agama, barang-barang sedekah seperti kuih-muih, makanan kering, dan barangan lain akan dicampak turun dari “rak Pret” kepada orang ramai yang menunggu di bawah. Semua akan berebut-rebut ambil dengan rasa seronok, sebab dipercayai barang sedekah dari Pret bawa tuah, rezeki dan pahala.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Walaupun “Ching Pret” nampak macam satu permainan, sebenarnya ia bawa makna mendalam dalam ajaran Buddha \u2013 sebagai tanda sedekah dan kirim pahala kepada roh Pret, iaitu roh nenek moyang yang telah meninggal dunia.
