Insiden ini sangat menyedihkan masyarakat. Sebelum kejadian itu, jawatankuasa kuil dan penganut Buddha telah merancang untuk mengadakan majlis \u201cTod Pha Pa Samakkhi\u201d dan upacara derma makanan untuk para guru terdahulu dan nenek moyang pada 25 April 2025. Phra Manop Mahaviro, ketua sami Wat Kuhra, telah meneruskan hasrat ini dengan sokongan daripada komuniti Buddha dan Muslim Thai. Insiden keganasan ini hanyalah tindakan segelintir individu yang ingin memecahbelahkan keharmonian, dan bukan kehendak rakyat.<\/p>\n

Hari ini (25 April 2025), jam 12.55 tengah hari di Wat Koh Aphinihan atau Wat Kuhra (terbiar) di Kampung Suan On, Mukim Pian, Daerah Saba Yoi, Wilayah Songkhla, Jeneral Manie Chantip \u2013 Penasihat kepada Pengarah ISOC Wilayah 4 \/ Setiausaha Agung Pusat Pembangunan & Promosi Agama Buddha Selatan \/ Presiden Persatuan Keselamatan Agama Buddha Selatan \u2013 telah mempengerusikan majlis sebagai wakil awam dalam acara \u201cTod Pha Pa Samakkhi\u201d. Tujuan acara adalah untuk mengumpul dana bagi baik pulih tempat ibadat, membina jalan sekeliling kuil, serta memperluas jalan masuk utama bagi memudahkan pergerakan penduduk dalam melaksanakan aktiviti keagamaan. Ketua sami ialah Phra Manop Mahaviro, dan ceramah agama disampaikan oleh Phra Khru Palat Suphan Suwanno dari pusat kediaman sami di Daerah Nathawi. Turut hadir Kolonel Uthai Rungsang, Naib Komander Task Force Songkhla; Encik Phongsak Promsang, Presiden Persekutuan Buddha Thai Selatan; dan rangkaian persekutuan dari 4 wilayah \u2013 Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat dan Songkhla. Jumlah sumbangan yang dikumpul setakat ini ialah 143,750 Baht.<\/p>\n

Jeneral Manie Chantip menyatakan rasa gembira kembali ke kuil ini, kerana beliau merupakan antara individu awal yang turut membantu membaik pulih tempat ini bersama masyarakat. Sepuluh tahun lalu, kuil ini terbiar, dipenuhi semak samun dan hanya tinggal runtuhan batu bata. Setelah berurusan dengan Jabatan Seni & Budaya Wilayah 11 Songkhla, usaha pemulihan pun dijalankan. Beliau turut menyatakan bahawa disebabkan keganasan yang berlarutan di selatan Thai, ramai penganut Buddha telah meninggalkan kawasan ini, mengakibatkan lebih 397 kuil menjadi terbiar. Kini, hanya tinggal sekitar 20 kuil lagi yang masih perlu dipulihkan.<\/p>\n

Wat Koh Aphinihan, sebelum ini dikenali sebagai Wat Kuhra (terbiar), telah mula dipulihkan sejak 2015 oleh penduduk Buddha dan Muslim bersama. Kini, hampir 10 orang sami menetap di situ. Kuil ini juga merupakan tempat asal \u201cLuang Pu Thuat Lin Dam\u201d yang sangat dihormati, dan mempunyai ubosot lama berusia lebih 300 tahun, dipercayai dibina pada penghujung zaman Ayutthaya \u2013 menjadi pusat spiritual penting bagi komuniti setempat.<\/p>\n

Following the recent violence on April 22, 2025, in which gunmen ambushed and shot Buddhist monks and novices from the abandoned Wat Kuhra near the entrance of the temple while they were on alms rounds, Novice Wongsakorn Choomapan was tragically killed. Prior to this tragic event, the temple committee and devout Buddhists had already planned to hold a Tod Phapa Samakkhi and almsgiving ceremony for the temple’s ancestors and revered monks on April 25, 2025.<\/p>\n

Today (April 25, 2025) at 12:55 PM, at Wat Koh Aphinihan (Wat Kuhra) in Ban Suan On, Pian Sub-district, Saba Yoi District, Songkhla Province, General Manee Chantip\u2014Advisor to ISOC Region 4, Secretary-General of the Southern Border Provinces Buddhist Promotion Center, and President of the Southern Buddhist Security Association\u2014presided over the merit-making ceremony as the lay representative. The event aimed to raise funds for the restoration of the temple grounds, construction of a gravel ring road around the temple, and expansion of the main access road for easier and safer travel for those attending religious functions.<\/p>\n
Phra Manop Mahaviro, Abbot of Wat Koh Aphinihan, presided over the religious side of the ceremony. Phra Khru Palat Suphan Suwanno, head of Meditation Center 90, Somdet Phra Srinagarindra, Nathawi District, delivered a Dhamma sermon.<\/p>\n
Also in attendance were Colonel Uthai Rungsang, Deputy Commander of the Songkhla Special Task Force; Mr. Phongsak Promsang, President of the Southern Thai Buddhist Federation; and networks of Buddhist federations from four provinces\u2014Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat, and Songkhla\u2014along with many devoted citizens. The initial donation collected amounted to 143,750 baht.<\/p>\n

General Manee Chantip expressed his heartfelt joy in returning to the temple, noting that he was among the first group of individuals to work with the local community to restore this sacred place. Ten years ago, the temple was completely abandoned and overgrown with vegetation, with only remnants of old bricks from the ordination hall visible. Coordination with the Fine Arts Department\u2019s Office 11 in Songkhla, under the Ministry of Culture, led to significant restoration progress.<\/p>\n
